It was wonderful staying somewhere with so much history. We enjoyed walking around the grounds by the Bayou Teche reading the signs and taking in the history around the large oak tree. The house was really nice, and the room was spacey and comfortable. We couldn't ask for a better stay. We loved it.

The Old Castillo was very historical and accommodating. Ms. Peggy is a very gracious host. The rooms were very clean and large. Breakfast was a delicious variety. The entire house was wonderfully decorated. There were no problems with anything.

The Old Castillo B&B is set in a beautiful historic building, the rooms have lovely furnishings and are well maintained. We wandered around the town square where it seems every building has historical significance. There is also a nice little water front area to just soak in the atmosphere. It was the perfect week end get-a-way.

The perfect get away for a group of people. Me and 15 other ladies just got back from a weekend there. Everything was just perfect. Ms Peggy the owner was a great host. I would recommend this B&B to anyone. The view of the 2nd story porch overlooking the bayou and the big trees are wonderful.

A beautiful home where you sit on the upstairs veranda and overlook the Evangeline Oak. It just doesn't get any better than that. I could have happily spent my entire vacation on the porch. Breakfast was great and the host could not have been more accomodating.

My fiance and I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Southern Louisiana. We stayed at the Old Castillo Inn for 2 nights and enjoyed every moment of it. The house was clean and well-maintained, and Peggy went above and beyond to see if needed anything. We especially loved the Victorian furnishings and rich history of the house and town. Breakfast was amazing, and it was so much fun to chat with her and the other guests.
There were PLENTY of great local restaurants, some within walking distance. We even caught a local musical act after dinner our first night in the town. It was a lot of fun.
We can't wait to visit Louisiana again, and will DEFINITELY be staying at the Old Castillo!!

My husband and I recently ended our vacation in New Orleans with a trip out to the heart of Cajun Country and the Old Castillo Bed and Breakfast. We heard about St. Martinville because of its importance to the real Evangeline story and Longfellow's canonical poem. St. Martinville is delightful, and the best part of it for us was the Old Castillo…..And, I've got to say, after a week of famed New Orleans cuisine, my husband and I agreed that our Old Castillo breakfast was the best meal of our vacation! Thanks, Peggy!

The Old Castillo is a hotel once again, as it was in the 1800s. Overall, the hotel delivers a nice bit of history, lots of warmth, and a romantic getaway.

Beautiful old hotel with very large rooms, and tall ceilings. The floors creaked when you walked on them which added to the charm. It is in a great location in Cajun country.. The owner, Peggy, was very gratious and helpful. Additionally, the hotel was clean and in good repair. We would stay there again when in the area.

Excellent rooms in a beautiful old house. Myself and my fiance were a bit nervous staying here because of the two San Diego reviews, but since it was a pre-camping stay we figured it couldn't be worse than a tent in the swamp. In retrospect I think the San Diego reviews were probably a couple, and they probably fought and took it out on the establishment because nothing in their review was true. The place is very clean, very tastefully decorated, in a great location, and historically pretty fascinateing. The hostess, Peggy, was very nice, and whent out of her way to meet our needs, and at a very competative price. To top it off we sat down to a great breakfast in the morning, had a great conversation with her and the other guests, and then hit the national park for 2 days. AWESOME TRIP!!!

What a great old place in a lovely setting. There were colorful Valentines Day and Mardi Gras decorations, and she was glad to share stories and experiences about the inn and the area. In the morning, she'll explain each part of the lovingly prepared Cajun breakfast.

This building is full of history, well appointed, and we LOVED the innkeeper. Ms Peggy was a joy to meet a talk to. Her cajun accent and stories were great. Well be back!
