Madewood Plantation House

A queen half-canopy bed, antique armoire and chaise lounge furnish this popular room that's a favorite with those who don't wish to climb stairs. The large bathroom has a shower/bathtub.

The upstairs peach room with a queen-size canopy bed opens to the front gallery, where guests can relax in wicker rocking chairs. A small bathroom with shower is in a former closet, where the 1840s pegs are now used for towels.

At the top of the stairs to the right, this large bedroom with two queen-size canopy beds receives its name from the portrait of the woman over the fireplace - no one knows her identity.

Opposite the master bedroom at the front of Madewood's second floor, this room with a few toys and a queen canopy bed appeals to the young at heart. Pull up the windows and relax on the front gallery. The connecting bath has a shower and an antique tin tub that will make you appreciate today's convenience.

To the left at the top of the stairs, this room with a king bed and a high single, was once occupied by Naomi Marshall who bought and renovated Madewood in the 1960s. It's connected to a large bathroom with bathtub and shower.

Create fantasies in this room that was rented for an afternoon by the actor so he could study his lines, when filming "An Interview with a Vampire" during a break in the shooting nearby. There is a double half-tester bed and a trundle bed in the front room so it can sleep three or four. The bathroom has an old fashioned tub and shower.

This large room across the rear of the Charlet House is perfect for a couple who wants some privacy. There is a queen canopy bed, a working fireplace and a screened porch where you can sit with your morning coffee or late night glasses of wine. The bathroom has a tub with shower.

Ideal for a family of four, or two couples, the two room suite has a canopied bed in the front room overlooking the porch and a half-tester bed, once owned by Hetie Porteous, Millie Marshall's grandmother, in the back bedroom. The curved bath has an old fashioned tub with a shower.

• Standard Rates are as listed, plus 9% tax, and includes wine-and-cheese reception in the library, set-menu dinner by candlelight in the dining room, coffee and brandy in the parlor after dinner, a full breakfast and tour of the mansion (before 4:30 p.m. or after 10 a.m.) for two people. There is an honor bar and a short wine list for those who wish to have wine with dinner.
