Lafitte is a community located in Jefferson Parish, 22 miles south of New Orleans, and it boasts several nice Lafitte inn establishments. Lafitte is known for its Oyster Food Fest at the Jean Lafitte National Park. While treasure hunting along the bayou, participants can enjoy oyster samples and oyster shucking contests. Lafitte is also known for the Jean Lafitte Seafood Festival. This two-day event features amusements, food, crafts, music and more. The Jean Lafitte National Park features hiking trails with picnic areas as well as guided walking tours and canoe treks.
