Introduction

This 1840 National Register farmhouse, overlooking woods, lake and a pool, is only 15 minutes from downtown Louisville.

Tucker House is set on five acres of striking beauty -- with woods, gardens and a spring-fed lake. You may take in the beautiful landscape from the comfort of the decks or brick patio, or you might choose to explore the area more completely by putting on hiking boots and old clothes and roaming the woods around the lake. Your sights will include the original stone spring house, a dry-laid masonry wall and the quarry that supplied the stone for the foundation of Tucker House and its outbuildings over 162 years ago. Nature, history and tranquility seem to co-exist in this place. This is a perfect setting for a bed and breakfast inn.

As you follow the winding cherry banister to the second floor, the four guest chambers await, each with its own private bath. While each room has been meticulously appointed with antiques of the era, three have been furnished with reproduction queen-sized beds for your sleeping comfort. The fourth bedroom has an authentic 1820's rope bed with full-sized bedding.

The second floor also includes a common room where you may sample refreshments from the refrigerator at any time during your stay. In the morning, you'll awaken to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee served there. Step through the French doors of the common room onto the second floor deck that overlooks the wooded grounds for quiet mornings and pleasant evenings. During warm months, a large heated in-ground pool is available for your "cooling off" pleasure.

Wireless internet service and satellite television are available to our guests twenty-four hours a day.

Your full "country-gourmet" breakfast may be served in the lovely formal dining room, set with antique china. Or you may dine on Kentucky Bybee pottery in the sunlit gathering room or on the adjoining deck, both of which overlook the gardens and woods. The menu may include such items as Kentucky country ham, peppered bacon, stuffed French toast, waffles, cheese grits, fresh fruit, homemade breads and biscuits, omelets, frittatas, stratas or Tucker House eggs.

Each chamber has a private bath with shower and tub, thick terry cloth robes, thirsty oversized towels, hair dryers and lighted make-up mirrors. If you forget any "necessities," or if you need anything that you don't see, just ask. We'll see to it that it's made available to you.
