A History...

Relish the history and the lifestyle of antebellum country living within a metropolitan area. In 1839, Hazael and Nancy Jane Tucker purchased their homestead and, approximately one year later, commissioned John Stone to build this brick, Federal-style home, which has now been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tucker House Bed & Breakfast is located between the historic communities of Middletown and Jeffersontown and is just 15 miles from downtown Louisville.

Innkeepers Devona and Steve Porter have faithfully restored this beautiful home, turning back the clock to the 1840s. Using their collection of early 19th century antiques, they have recreated the flavor of early country living in Kentucky. They were recently presented with a "Preservation Award" from the Louisville Historical League for their authentic preservation work on Tucker House.

This Kentucky landmark has solid brick walls, original poplar floors and trim, seven fireplaces and gorgeous, old seeded-glass windows. In the first floor parlor, stop and browse through two fine collections of books. One pertains to the history of Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky, and the other encompasses antiques and antique furnishings of the mid 1800s. Cross the foyer into the dining room and enjoy some fresh-baked goods prior to retiring to your chambers.
