Introduction
The Innkeepers, Joe and Shirley Thomas, purchased this magnificent 1892 Victorian home from J. B. Moore in 2000. Up until her death, J. B.'s wife had lived in this wonderful old home from the time her father, Dr. Wm. M. Hammack, purchased the house in 1916. It has taken Joe two long years to restore, renovate, and furnish the Hammack-Moore House to its former grace and splendor.
Madisonville is located between Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Evansville, Indiana, on US-41, approximately thirty-five miles from Land Between the Lakes.
Hammack-Moore House offers five lovely smoke-free rooms for entertaining our guests. The guest rooms are furnished with antiques and feature private baths and TV/VCR's.
Visitors are always elated upon entering the foyer to see the circular oak carved stairway and two sets of oak and maple pocket doors, which showcase the nine-foot tall elaborately hand carved maple living room mantle.
Other features of this magnificent 1892 Victorian Home include a large wrap-around, red-tiled front porch and a large latticed side-porch with two ginger bread screen doors and a ceiling fan for those hot, still afternoons. This is a perfect spot for bird watching in the early morning hours.
It is our hope and intentions that our guests will feel comfortable and will enjoy the many aspects of our home and will want to come again, and again, and again!
The Hammack-Moore House features two types of breakfast. For the person on the go, we have an Early Bird Breakfast which may include a selection of toasted bagels, homemade banana bread, juice, fresh fruit and cereal. Our full breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30, depending upon the needs of the guests.
A favorite breakfast menu is fresh orange juice, broiled brown sugar glazed ruby-red grapefruit, German pancake with homemade buttermilk syrup served with peppered bacon or maple sausage links, and milk, tea, or coffee. The breakfast presentation is always enhanced by one of Shirley's six sets of china and table linens. With notice and availability, guests may invite family or friends as their own breakfast guests for $14.95 per guest.
The Hammack-Moore House in association with the Thomas's other ventures, Bartholomew's Fine Foods and Spirits and Bart's Annex, can provide a variety of other entertaining services, such as back-yard cookouts, weddings, dinners and cocktail parties for ten to fifty, and special-event parties, weekends, and executive retreats. Prices are subject to change without notice and services and amenities may vary with availability and season.
