In 1927, Dr. John Futrell purchased the Queen Anne style home, which was built by E.E. Wash sometime around 1903. Some time later, his twin brother Dr. Elias built a house next door, and the two lived side by side until Dr. John’s death. Dr. John and Dr. Elias, who were both prominent figures in Trigg County, had a large impact on Cadiz and the families in the area. They were very committed to their profession, and would make late-night house calls to help those in need. Both Dr. John and Dr. Elias helped found Trigg County Hospital, which opened its doors in 1952 and is still in operation today. Many of Cadiz citizens recall Dr. John fondly, and even though he passed away in 1975, and the house has changed hands several times since then, most Cadiz citizens still refer to the home as Dr. John’s house. On February 11, 2007, Gary and Amanda Polete purchased the home at auction with hopes of restoring the home and opening it as a bed and breakfast. As the house was remembered mostly as the home of Dr. Futrell, they chose to name it Futrell House Bed and Breakfast. |

Our B&B is within walking distance of 5 antique stores, all located in the downtown area. Leatherbury's is located in the downtown area, and features a light lunch and a wonderful selection of coffees and teas. Other restaurants within walking distance are Hot Diggity Dog and Preacher's Barbecue. Other restaurants in Cadiz include El Bracero, China Buffet, Patty Sue's Family Restaurant, and Cracker Barrel. Just outside of Cadiz is Miss Scarlet's Restaurant, The Brass Lantern, Willow Pond, and Patty's 1800 Settlement, which is famous for its 2 inch thick pork chops and wonderful desserts. |
