Welcome to The Columbine Bed and Breakfast in Louisville, Kentucky Like stone sentinels, ever on the watch, the majestic columns of The Columbine have stood stalwart for over a century. Formerly the estate of one of the "mahogany kings" of Louisville, this bed and breakfast, built in 1896 has preserved details that truly reflect the Victorian era in which it was constructed.

Located in historic Old Louisville, yet 5 minutes from the Commonwealth Convention Center, the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, Churchill Downs, Louisville International Airport, Jewish Hospital, and only one and half blocks from the University of Louisville’s main campus and the J.B. Speed Museum. The Columbine is close to most major activities and sights yet remains apart in a quiet, safe residential setting.

On entering the ground floor of the Columbine, our guests may find many splendid examples of Victorian craftsmanship at its finest. For example, through the pocket doors of the dining room, guests will find rare Honduran mahogany adorning the walls along with a gorgeous fireplace with rare, rose marble imported from Carrera, Italy and a regal dining table with intricately carved chairs. Also included on the ground floor is the parlor, living room and a large screened-in back porch which provide areas for relaxation. Completely restored in 1994, The Columbine maintains its Victorian integrity yet continues in the present day with modern amenities. Along with central heat and air added in 1994, each guest room contains a queen bed, a loveseat, cable television/vcr, a private phone line, secretary, overhead ceiling fans and most importantly, a private bath. As you can see, at The Columbine we take great pride in our home but most of all we take pride in our warm and friendly atmosphere. We try to make every guest feel at home and welcome. After all, we like to think most people come back not just because of our marble fireplaces or great beds. We try to make every person, couple and family feel truly comfortable and special.
