The city of Concordia, located in Cloud County in the north-central part of Kansas, is home to many great B&Bs. It is a city known for its small game hunting and visitors flock from all over the country on the opening day of hunting season. That’s one reason Concordia inns are the best place to sit back and relax after a long day of hunting. Known as the stained-glass capital of Kansas, Concordia receives many local visitors every year. You can see the craftsmanship in the many residences with beautiful stained glass windows on proud display. The Nazareth Convent and Academy, known as the official Motherhouse and home for the 260 Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia, was built in 1903 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Concordia is also the home of the national Orphan Train complex, housed in the restored historic Union Pacific Railroad Depot. Currently, a museum and research center dedicated to the preservation of the stories and artifacts of those who were part of the Orphan Train Movement from 1854-1929, occupies the complex. A stay in a Concordia bed and breakfast will give a visitor access to all these fantastic historical activities, and after sightseeing, a guest can sample some of the great dining the city has to offer. For example, Casey's Carry Out Pizza has some of the best pizza in town, and is a quick bite to pick up (they do not deliver). The Tumbleweed Steakhouse and Tavern is a very popular place to eat. The authentic Kansas-style steak is sure to leave anyone’s mouth watering!
