Region Navigation Pages | City Navigation Pages
The state (USA and Mexico) and province (Canada) navigation pages on BBOnline are the heart of our geographic navigation system. From the state navigation page, viewers can click on a city, region of the state, featured B&Bs, various B&B categories, state innkeeper association and special package categories.
Since BBOnline is headquartered just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, we will use Tennessee as our example. You may click here to open another web browser to our Tennessee state navigation page OR scroll down this page as we have copied November 16th's version of the Tennessee page below.
Let's take a look at each section of the page.
- Section 1 - Today's Featured Tennessee B&Bs
After the lead-in section, viewers see the row of "featured" Tennessee B&Bs labeled:

Each night, up to four B&Bs located in the state that have our Feature Marketing Level are randomly selected to be "featured" for the day by having their picture, name, location and link to their BBOnline content posted at the top of the state page.
- Section 2 - Left Sidebar - Various B&B Category Links
Below the row of "feature" B&Bs and to the left of the region/city links (section 4), there is a column of 1" wide buttons. For U.S. states, there is a link to our B&B Locator Mapping System followed by several B&B sub-directories: Handicap Accessible, Kid Friendly, Pets Welcome, Inns in the Mountains, Inns on an Ocean Shoreline, B&Bs that host Weddings, Inns on the National Register of Historic Places, Inns with Accommodations for Horses. These sub-directory links include B&Bs in the state that are appropriate for that category.
- Section 3 - Right Sidebar - Special Package Links
Below the row of "feature" B&Bs and to the right of the region/city links (section 4), there is a column of 1" wide buttons. The first button is the Special Packages button that leads viewers to all of the currently posted specials in the state. Below the first button are several popular and/or seasonal special categories that lead viewers to all of the currently posted specials in that category in the state. Popular special category buttons are displayed to catch the attention of viewers.
- Section 4 - Center of Page - Geographic Navigation
Below the row of "feature" B&Bs and between the Left Sidebar and Right Sidebar lies the most important section of the state navigation page.
- Section 4a - Center of Page - State Innkeeper Association Link
32 statewide innkeeper associations have "mini-websites" on BBOnline. A link to the association's home page on BBOnline is included at the top of this section.
- Section 4b - Center of Page - Region and City Links
This is where viewers click to a city or a region. They are instructed to do the following:
- If you know the city of your destination, click on a city
- To view a map of a region and additional location info, click on a region
Most states and provinces have been divided into regions (click here for the region navigation page FAQ). Usually, there are between 3 and 12 regions in a state.
Each region occupies one row across the page with the following components:
- In the center is the name of the region. When clicked on, the viewer is taken to the appropriate region page.
- On the left is a small state map that highlights the region. When clicked on, the viewer is taken to the appropriate region page.
- Under the name of the region are the towns and cities in the region listed in alphabetical order. When clicked on, the viewer is taken to the appropriate city page (click here for the city navigation page FAQ).
