redesigned our recipe area -- all 1,700 recipes -- plus the category
pages that organize them. It's easier than ever now to find a new and
tasty treat. If you like to print out recipes, or share them with
others, you'll pleased with our new printer-friendlier layout and 'Email
A Friend' functions. As always, we've made it simple to learn more
about the inns that contribute these fine dishes, too.

We're pleased to announce the winner of our August-September 2001 contest,
sponsored by the Casa Alegre Bed & Breakfast Inn.

Our congratulations to Lila Mae B. of Las Vegas, Nevada, whose guess
came closest to the correct answer for the August-September tiebreaker question.
We asked how many gallons of water it takes to fill the swimming pool at
Casa Alegre. The exact answer is 33,850 gallons; Lila Mae guessed 33,832.
Lila Mae wins a gift certificate for two free nights for two at Casa
Alegre, so she can try out that pool for herself!

The pumpkin is one of the many foods that Native Americans shared with
the Pilgrim settlers, and it must have been a part of the first Thanksgiving.
According to www.pumpkinnook.com, early settlers made pumpkin pie by
filling a hollowed out shell with milk, honey and spices, then baking
it. Nowadays, you're more likely to find the pumpkin in a pie crust, or
baked in a spicy bread, or . . . well, see for yourself!
