With Thanksgiving just weeks away, and the December holidays galloping
close behind, isn't it nice to see gas prices holding steady at around
a dollar a gallon (at least here in mid-Tennessee). It's a good time
for a bed & breakfast getaway, and our innkeepers are sweetening the
idea with (at latest count) nearly 150 Thanksgiving, Christmas and
New Year's Specials. You can see a sampling, and link to them all,
below.

Our recipe feature this month is pies & cobblers -- we've got a
passel of priceless pie and cobbler creations from innkeepers all
over the country, so get out those pans and follow the link below.

If you're traveling for the holidays, why not treat yourself
to a bed & breakfast stopover along your way 'over the river and
through the woods.'

Time to announce the winner of our September-October 2001 contest,
sponsored by Rachel's Bed & Breakfast in Annapolis, Missouri.

Hearty congratulations to Beth E. of Sioux Center, Iowa, who sent the
closest guess on the September tiebreaker question. We asked how many
lights are there in the drawing room and double dining room at Rachel's.
The exact answer is 1117; Beth guessed 1130, so she wins a gift certificate
for two free nights for two at Rachel's Bed & Breakfast. Now she can count
the lights in person!

The November-December Contest is sponsored by Capps Cove Bed & Breakfast,
in Oneonta, Alabama.

This country getaway spot, 30 miles north of Birmingham, has a wedding
chapel, a barn outfitted for parties and receptions, and an antique store
