| Introduction |

Built in 1901, The Stone Soup Inn is an impressive example of Colonial Revival architecture. After its heyday as a residence, the house fell into a period of disrepair and was used as a rooming house and later as a seminary dormitory. In 1977, the Bourke family saved it from the wrecking ball and the house underwent twenty years of intensive renovation. In respect of their contribution the door knocker still bears their name. On July 31, 1996, Jeneane Life bought the house and set in motion her plan to open The Stone Soup Inn. |

Located in the heart of the Historic Old Northside, the Stone Soup Inn offers all the beauty and comfort of an upscale turn of the century home. After stepping into the large foyer, relax by the baby grand piano in the living room or cuddle up with a good book in the library. All of these rooms contain beautifully detailed woodwork and hardwood floors. Breakfast will be served in our distinctive dining room or, weather permitting, on the large, wraparound porch. On the second floor, share stories with other guests in the sitting room or outside on the spacious balcony overlooking the front garden and lily pond. Decorated with a combination of Mission-style and Victorian-era antiques, guests will find a comfortable, convenient place to stay as they explore nearby historic sites, Indianapolis' theater district and downtown attractions. |
In the old children's story, "Stone Soup", three weary travelers in need of food and rest come upon a small village only to find the inhabitants wary and pretending to be in need themselves. The travelers convince the villagers they can make a soup out of stones. Enchanted by this marvelous claim, the villagers gradually contribute the food they had hidden away. Together, they make a wonderful soup and the whole village comes out to welcome the travelers with a great feast. Our bed and breakfast draws from the lesson of the story. We look to welcome new visitors to our city and have created a warm, friendly environment - a home away from home - where travelers can relax by a fire, share their experiences and sleep in comfort. - Continental Breakfast Weekdays ~ Full Breakfast Weekends
- Room rates are $85 to $135 a night (prices may vary for special events).
- A 50% deposit is required to reserve a room.
- Cancellation Policy: We require 7 days advance notice so that we can attempt to re-rent the room (a 15% handling charge will be applied if money is refunded). In the event a cancellation is made in less than 7 days and we are able to re-rent the room, all money will be refunded minus a 15% handling charge. (Special events are non-refundable.) No shows and cancellations made less than 7 days in advance will be charged full price.
