A Historical Log Cabin Located in the Knobs of Southern Indiana

The 1400 square foot historical log home is a blend of old and new. Native chestnut oak hand hewn logs chinked with mud and straw will take you back in time- healing the soul in this beautiful natural setting. The living room has the original fireplace made from massive hand cut sand stone. The hardwood oak floors and ceilings with spacious windows add a warm glow. The 1830's cabin is furnished in antiques, beds are made with quilts over sheets which have hung in the sunshine to dry.

This original log home of Francis Joseph and Theresa Schmidt sits next door to the farm where it was built nearly 200 years ago in Starlight, Indiana. Restored as a vacation cabin for an incredible get away for you, friends or family, it is the perfect spot to get away and enjoy the peace of rural Starlight... experiencing the life of the early German settlers to this area. It is also a natural for small group/corporate retreats.

Accommodations:

Two large bedrooms are located on the second floor. A master bedroom has a queen size bed, a second bedroom has two full size beds. A full kitchen includes refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, cookware, dishes and coffee maker. There is a bathroom on each floor with a shower. For the comfort and safety of all our guests, smoking is not permitted in the cabin. No pets please, unless special arrangements are made.

Reservations:

One nights deposit will reserve the cabin. We should receive your deposit within one week of making reservations. Travelers checks, personal checks, or cash preferred, major credit cards are accepted for payment. If you must cancel a reservation, refund will be provided if done 72 hours before scheduled arrival. There will be a $10 service charge on cancellations.

Rental rates

are $195.00 a day on weekends with week-day and multiple day stay discounts available. Settle in the cabin at 3:00 P.M. or later and check out at 12:00 Noon unless other arrangements are made at time of reservation.
