"Two gates and one carriage way are entrances through iron and stone fence of a desirable pattern to this spacious Mansion and abode of widows. The neatly sodded turf, serpentine and brick walkways, together with easy rising stone steps, lead up to the doorways. Iron verandahs, bay windows in front, massive balconies in rear, and ample ground stretching out to view, together with other conveniences, form no inconsiderable part of the external surroundings," New Albany Ledger Standard, November 19, 1873.
The Mansion is surrounded by beautiful homes on Mansion Row, including the Culbertson Mansion and our own Box Tree Inn. It is on the scenic by-way and within walking distance to antique shopping in historic downtown New Albany. The nearby Parthenon is located in the oldest bank building in the state and now is the area's premiere special events location.
