Introduction
The Newman-Vollmar House is located on US 421 in Osgood, Indiana, a small town in the southeastern corner of the state less than thirty (30) minutes from Ohio and Kentucky. This location provides easy access to antiques and many other interesting activities.

The home was built for the leading hardware operator of the day. Much of the original flare still survives, including original oak woodwork, fireplace mantels and stained glass windows.

The Newman-Vollmar House was voted "Best B & B for Room Amenities" in Arrington's 2005 Inn Traveler Book of Lists and Voted 14th "Best Breakfast" in the Midwest in their 2006 Book of Lists.

Make sure you visit our newly opened gift shop. We have antiques, floral arrangements, soaps, bird houses, jewelry, original art work and various sundry items.

  • The Versailles State Park, Indiana's 2nd largest, is just five (5) minutes away. On the way to the park make sure you take time to see one of the few remaining outdoor theaters in the state. Enjoy the approximately 10 miles of mountain bike trails, opening April 27, 2006.
  • Another destination that may interest you is Historic Madison, Indiana, a twenty-six (26) mile trip, which is host to an annual speedboat competition during the July 4th weekend.
  • Milan, home of the 1954 State basketball champions, only ten (10) miles from Osgood, features not only several antique stores and Milan Museum, but also Equine Massage Classes Many continue their day trip by going to the riverboat casinos either in Rising Sun or Lawrenceburg, which are within a thirty (30) minute drive.
  • Other short drives are Friendship and Batesville. Every Spring and Fall is the Friendship Flea Market and National Muzzle Loading Rifle Shoot. In Batesville, there is the Weberding's Carving Shop where you may visit the unique custom woodworking facility. There are also some covered bridges in the county that are worth a visit as well.
  • Other annual events include the Ripley County Fair (summer), Apple Harvest Festival (fall), The Versailles Pumpkin Festival (fall), Blue Grass Festival (fall).
