Introduction
Innkeepers Bob and Carol Nebughr would like to welcome you to Southern Illinois and their Windy Hill Acres Inn.
Take in the view from our spacious deck, cozy up to the warmth of the fireplace and sleep in an antique queen size bed with down comforters. Enjoy quiet country living in our beautifully furnished five-room home with its spacious living room including a fireplace, satellite TV, DVD, VCR and a great view of the country side.
Windy Hill Acres Inn is located in the Shawnee National Forest. The Inn is a Rock Potato House that was built in the 1800's and used to store the farmers' sweet potatoes until they could be shipped to Chicago. Today, the Potato House has two bedrooms, a spacious living room with a beautiful fireplace and a great view of the country side, and a kitchen with breakfast area. The living room opens onto the deck where you can enjoy the view, the fresh air, and the sounds of the country.
A Continental Breakfast is included, and all appliances and kitchen necessities are provided so that you may prepare your own meals at your leisure for other times. For those of you that choose not to dine in, you can select one of the many local restaurants. You can choose the option of one or two bedrooms each furnished with queen size beds depending on your preferences (see rates). The house is air conditioned and includes a separate room with a washer and dryer which can be used as an extra dressing room.
