Introduction
Step back in time to a gentler age when hospitality was an art and life was unhurried. When a person could while away an hour on the front porch with coffee and newspaper...without a shred of guilt. When nights were spent in high-ceilinged bedrooms under cozy handmade quilts, waking to the robin's early-morning song.
The Patchwork Inn captures this spirit of the casual elegance from the past with the sophistication of today. We offer you an uptown experience in a rural setting... surrounded by wooded hills and the rolling farm land of Northwest Illinois.
Local history documents Abraham Lincoln visiting for lunch and lodging. Imagine the feeling of climbing the original staircase this great American President ascended while visiting in Oregon, and having the opportunity to stay in the same room that was once occupied by Mr. Lincoln.

As settlers pushed westward in the early 1800's, the small towns of Illinois began to increase in size and number. One of these was William Moore, who in the mid 1840's brought his wife and six children from Pennsylvania to settle in Oregon. His brick Greek Revival home, which is now the front portion of the Inn, consisted of four large rooms with a central staircase. In 1848 Mr. Moore ran a grocery store in the building, and soon after established the first hotel for our city. The 1850 census lists Mr. Moore as an Innkeeper and the first newspaper for Oregon in 1851 advertises "Moore's Hotel" on the front page. It was during the mid 1850's that Abraham Lincoln visited the "Moore Hotel" for lunch and lodging.
Innkeepers Ron Bry and Jean & Michael McNamara wish to extend the Inn's historical past into the future and to share it with you as our guests.
