Hidden behind dogwood, redbud and sweet gum trees, the Old Bethlehem School Cottage is located in the Metropolis area in beautiful Southern Illinois, "America's Best Kept Secret". It is set at the edge of Shawnee National Forest(pictured below), with scenic views of the hills in the forest.
Off the beaten path, but easily accessible (1/2 mile from IL Hwy. 145), it is located 15 miles north of Paducah, Kentucky, home of the Museum of American Quilters Society (MAQS) and the American Quilters Convention. It is 13 miles northeast of Players Island Casino in (Superman City), Metropolis, and 5 miles south of Dixon Springs State Park.

The Old Bethlehem School is a one-room schoolhouse, in which classes were actually held until the mid-fifties. It features three bedrooms, one bath, a large, fully equipped, eat-in kitchen, and living room.
The schoolhouse has been tastefully redecorated in Americana style with early to mid-1900's antiques. The bedrooms contain one queen size bed, one double bed and a set of twin beds. It could easily accommodate a family of 6 or a party of 4 hunters.
Be on your way as early as you wish, or sleep as late as you like. Breakfast time is up to you, with a pantry and refrigerator stocked with fresh fruits, milk, juice, and pre-packaged foods to be used at your convenience.
