| Introduction |

The Market Street Inn is a lovingly cared for Queen Anne Victorian home of 1892 vintage which we developed into a Bed & Breakfast Inn in 1994. Situated at southwest corner of Market and Pawnee streets in Taylorville, just two blocks from our historic town square, the property is bordered on two sides by the original wrought iron fence in the Bird of Paradise or "Love Bird" pattern. Many of our guests have enjoyed learning some of the details of this unique "kit" home designed by George Barber, Architect. |
Constantly undergoing careful renovations and updates, this 7,100 square foot home features eight guest rooms, and a Carriage House, each with a private bath. All rooms have queen or king size beds and are, for the most part, furnished with antiques.
Six fireplaces grace our home -- each featuring a different motif in its wood specie, tile and design. Some of these old anthracite-burning fireplaces now feature state-of-the-art gas logs. Two of these fireplaces are in guest rooms: the Chimney and the Spring Garden rooms. The Parlor, the Sitting Room and the Dining Room also have fireplaces. The sixth one is in the Innkeepers quarters.

Juice, coffee, fruit, an egg dish (which could mean waffles or French Toast or an egg casserole), a breakfast meat (sausage, ham or bacon), and sometimes a pastry or cake. Hot or cold cereals are available upon request. |

| Taylorville is located approximately 30 minutes from both Springfield and Decatur, Illinois, 1.5 hours from St. Louis and 3.5 hours from Chicago O'Hare. Taylorville provides a safe, quiet and very convenient base of operations when visiting and/or doing business in the surrounding communities. Our luxury facility provides a quality place to stay. |

| Myrna and Joe Hauser were both born and reared in Taylorville. Leaving for college in 1961, they did not return to live here until 1996 when Joe came to be a full time innkeeper. Myrna retired from teaching in 1997 and now lives at the Market Street Inn as a full time innkeeper, too. | "We have stayed in many bed and breakfast inns over the years and decided that our goal in decorating would be something which would appeal to men and women alike.
