Step into the past and rediscover romance in... Historic Lebanon, Illinois.
The Landmark on Madison Bed & Breakfast Inn is a classic Greek Revival home built in 1906 on the corner of South Madison and East Main streets in the historic town of Lebanon.
Come ascend the stairs to another time, a time less hurried, when graciousness and hospitality prevailed. Savor the charm of crystal chandeliers, solid brass hardware, hardwood floors and marble fireplaces. Experience a time when elaborate architectural detail was an important part of every home.
You will be delighted with The Landmark on Madison, decorated in rich colors and an eclectic mix of antique and traditional furnishings. The Inn is elegant, yet cozy with every door and hallway leading to new and delightful surprises. We encourage you to explore. The whole house is yours to enjoy (except the hosts' master bedroom and occasionally the kitchen).

We invite you to relax on one of our grand porches or shaded rear lawn, enjoy a book, play a game or watch TV in the library, or simply chat in the parlor by the fireplace. Come early and stay late so you have time to tour our historic town with its many antique shops and interesting architecture. In October the town hosts its semi-annual fall house tour when many of the historic homes are open to view.

In 1978, much of the town of Lebanon (which dates from 1814) was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
One historic place on the National Register is McKendree College. McKendree is the oldest college in Illinois as well as the oldest college in the United States under continuous affiliation with the United Methodist Church. Today, McKendree is a four-year, fully-accredited, liberal arts college.
Another historic place on the National Register is the Mermaid House. This 1830's Inn lodged Charles Dickens during his 1842 stay in Lebanon and is also documented in his book American Notes.
