Galena, Illinois (IL) Bed & Breakfast: A 2 story Italianate style inn circa 1867. Originally a hotel where farmers stayed when they were coming to Galena to sell their products to passing steamships. The inn has recently been renovated to make for more modern conveniences. Two walnut stairways and all the wood pine flooring is original to the building. The inn is within walking distance to downtown shops, restaurants and attractions. Off site parking is available across the street. Private baths, tastefully decorating and cable TV in each room. DVD & CD players in some rooms. Hot tub in back yard.

Introduction

The Farmers' Guest House in Galena, Illinois was built in 1867 and operated as a bakery, store and hotel. This handsome Italianate-style building was a favorite overnight stop for area farmers bringing goods to market, as well as a gathering place for local folk. This structure remains one of the Midwest's premier examples of 19th-century commercial vernacular architecture.

Kathie and Jess Farlow welcome you to experience the delight, charm and romance of a by-gone era along with the conveniences of today. Relax in one of our many sitting areas or soak in our backyard hot tub. We pay attention to the details, so you can enjoy your stay and make our house your home.

This room is furnished with various tables and chairs from old-fashioned ice cream parlor sets and a country harvest table. At breakfast you can choose a private table for two or eat with a group of friends or other guests. A long bar gives additional seating and serves as the meeting place for our wine and cheese hour at 6 p.m. everyday. A Full breakfast is included with room rate and is served from: 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Dinner is available by special request for $16.95 and up.
