Introduction
The Beiderbecke mansion is a unique example of Stick style architecture prevalent during the Victorian era complete with a tower, turret and balconies.
Located in the historic Davenport Gold Coast, Charles and Louise Beiderbecke built this home overlooking the Mississippi River in 1880.
This home is an elegant example of how the wealthy lived during the 19th century. The home is spacious with 5,000 square feet of living space, eleven foot ceilings and eight foot doors.
Featured are two parlors, a library, receiving hall and a grand staircase. The massive hickory entry doors and rare chestnut woodwork add to its beauty and uniqueness. Seven of the original nine fireplaces remain.
The house is furnished with many Victorian antiques, showcased by an 1898 grand piano. A full breakfast will be served in the formal dining room.
Charles and Louise built this home in 1880 and moved in with their four children. Charles was a partner in Beiderbecke and Miller Wholesale Groceries. He made his fortune selling to the army, wagon trains heading west, riverboats traveling the Mississippi, and local stores.
Whether you are enjoying a summer evening on the veranda overlooking the Mississippi River or sitting by a cozy fire, your stay at the Beiderbecke Inn will be a memorable getaway.
