Kia`i Kai Bed & Breakfast

Kia'i Kai was originally opened in 1996 by my parents, John & Tory Mospens. My mother was a retired nurse and my father was a retired Coastie. You should know that in the Hawaiian language "Kia'i Kai" translates to "Sea Guard" or "Guardian of the Sea". For this reason, it represents the United States Coast Guard and is an appropriate name for our bed and breakfast. It reflects not only our location, but my father's 30+ years in the Coast Guard. Our Peace Garden is tribute to a tradition that started in Japan in 1954. Our Peace Pole states, "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in four languages: English, Hawaiian, Spanish, and Japanese. It is cradled by two JFK Peace Roses.

Appreciating that we all need to nurture ourselves, it is important to us to provide not only a fresh, healthy and satisfying breakfast, but also a relaxing environment that promotes well-being. Hawaii island attracts many practitioners and is very conducive to healing. We are very fortunate to have an on-site massage therapist who is able to provide our guests with therapeutic massage. Whether you are in the process of recovering from an illness, dealing with everyday aches and pains, or simply needing to relax, Nicole is able to help. In 2008, I was given the helm. Though for many years I traveled and studied languages, the islands have been my home for over 20 years. I love Hawaii island and look forward to sharing what I know about this magical place with you. I also enjoy making delicious treats and I am delighted to have the opportunity to create homemade tropical breakfasts for our guests. Also oceanfront, this suite offers a bedroom and sitting area complete with microwave and refrigerator. A wonderful alternative if you prefer to rest and take in the view. In addition to a queen sized bed, this room has a futon which can also be used for sleeping. The room includes a private bathroom with large shower and private entrance. $135 per night. Room rates are based on double occupancy and do not include taxes. For additional guests add $10 per guest per night.

Our spacious Kia'i Kai Suite offers a phenomenal sweeping view of the ocean. It is perfect for honeymooners or just those that are looking for a secluded weekend get away. This unit can accommodate up to four adults and is complete with a sitting area, king sized bed, large bathroom with double vanity and double shower, refrigerator and microwave. A large private lanai is also all yours for taking in breathtaking sunrises, whales, dolphins, turtles, and waves. $185 per night. Room rates are based on double occupancy and do not include taxes. For additional guests add $10 per guest per night.
