The Volcano District - Just 30 minutes from Kia`i Kai is Volcanoes National Park, home to the world's only "drive-in" volcano.

The Hilo District - Hilo, the Big Island 's county seat, is the town that time forgot, with its false-front stores, covered sidewalks, and small town charm. Life moves at a slow, friendly pace.

Even the stars here seem bigger and brighter, especially from the oceanside Hot Tub! Watch whales frolic in the winter months, or dolphins spin and somersault all year round!

John retired from the Coast Guard after more than 28 years of service. He served on 8 ships including the ice breaker Polar Sea. In addition to Hawaii, they have lived on many coasts, including the Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf, and Great Lakes. Their last tour of duty was in Honolulu and they knew they wanted to live nowhere else but the land of Aloha.

Tory worked as a nurse, but now prefers to see to the needs of well people. She enjoys baking (feel free to email her for a recipe!) and is interested in Hawaiian quilting.

Both John and Tory enjoy entertaining and traveling.
