Coffee service starts at 8 AM. A hot buffet style breakfast is served from 8:15 to 9:30 AM daily in the Common Room overlooking the pond and ocean. We provide a generous continental style breakfast featuring Big Island grown coffee and an assortment of teas, juice, tropical fruits, local tropical flavored yogurt, homemade coconut-macadamia nut granola, fresh baked breads, muffins, and a cheese dish or freshly boiled eggs. Let us know if you have special dietary requirements. We will provide a modified menu or "carry out" breakfast to accommodate our business client's schedules and those guests who must catch an early flight (24 hour notice, please). Assorted light snacks and a tea and coffee station is always available in the common room. |

| Enjoy the seaside atmosphere on over an acre of tropical gardens containing a series of natural anchialine lagoons. These lagoons are created by tidal waters flowing upward through depressions and tunnels in the lava. Old lava tubes are exposed by the weathering away of their upper portions. The beautiful natural lava formations provide a stunning lagoon bottom and rugged edges. | |
| Fresh water flows downward from the mountains underground to the lagoons on its way out to sea. These unique lagoons experience water level changes twice a day with the tides. The ancient Hawaiians were highly skilled aquaculturists who stocked these ponds with choice young fish. These brackish lagoons still contain small native shrimp and edible fish such as aholehole and mullet, as well as our pet koi. There are also three ducks and a wild heron who have been residents on the property longer then we have. We feed the fish in the same spot at the end of each day. End each day by joining us for fish feeding. | Visit the best of the Big Island attractions - see an active volcano erupting at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, only a 40 minute drive south. Stroll through the world class Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens on rugged Onomea Bay, via the Old Scenic Highway, a 15 minute drive north. Take a short hike at Akaka Falls Park on your way to quaint Honokaa Town and tour Waipio Valley by horseback or mule drawn carriage. View the universe by telescope at the Mauna Kea star gazing program. Join the locals and boogie board or surf at one of the local surfing beaches. We will help you plan interesting day trips so you can do and see more in comfort. |

Scott Andrews and Claudia Rohr and son Rory have built their home around a romantic bit of tropical splendor. Having escaped to Paradise from Oregon, where the couple owned and operated Andrews and Rohr Landscape Design and Construction for many years, Scott and Claudia have enjoyed the process of creating a tropical garden around a prehistoric fish pond within a coconut grove. After years of renovating historic homes, this is their first new house project. With the help of architectural design professionals, this married couple designed their new residence over several years as a collaborative project. Completing the process, they have gathered together tropical birds, fish, a swimming and coconut fetching "Poi" dog, and now B&B guests to share and enliven the landscape. Enjoy the collections of old postcards, photographs, pottery and old bottles gathered together from various sources. Scott has displayed objects of historical interest that he found buried in the mud at the bottom of the ponds. There is a never ending story of rediscovered history in the making of this new house. |
