Activities

Talk story with Scott, an avid plant collector and gardener, enjoy feeding the fish, play a ukulele, and throw a few coconuts in the pond for a game of island style "fetch" with our friendly poi dog, Bandit (she lives outside only). Go for a run or walk along the shoreline and on quiet Nene Street.

We are located in Hilo in the Leleiwi neighborhood beach community which is home to numerous and diverse beach parks within one mile of shoreline. It's a place where anyone or everyone may show up since it is Hilo's favorite beach area. Our guests can walk to many of these bathing and fishing grounds or just stay home and watch others fishing, swimming and picnicking along the shoreline. Spot breaching whales, spinner dolphins, and the shadow of grazing sea turtles.

After a busy day, many of us enjoy jumping in the cool lagoons across the street or taking a short walk to swim at Richardson's Beach. Richardson's is East Hawaii's most popular beach, known for its black sand beach and array of tropical fish and sea turtles that can easily be viewed in the sheltered off shore reef. There are life guards on duty from 9 AM - 4 PM daily.

There Is Nothing Else Like A Hawaiian Sunset
View the passing of cruise ships in the twilight
on the way out of port as the sunset lights up
the slopes of Mauna Kea with a rosy glow.

We are ten minutes from historic Downtown Hilo with wonderful retail shops and restaurants. The bay front bustles with activities such as the Farmer's Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, wonderful one of a kind restaurants and shops, the Lyman Museum, the Tsunami Museum, occasional concerts by the Hawaii County Band in the historic bandstand on the waterfront, and afternoon practice and races by the many outrigger canoe clubs. Don't miss a drive down Banyan Drive to Liliokulani Park and Coconut Island for a stroll along the harbor and Rainbow Falls just five minutes above downtown.
