Introduction
We like to think of ourselves as the best kept secret in Georgia. The five acre Ashford Estate, overlooking Watkinsville's venerable Main Street, had been in the same family for over 100 years. Completely surrounded and secluded by a border of magnolias, red buds and pines, the 1893 Victorian manor house, cottage, gazebo and four acres of landscaped gardens all terrace down to a pool and open woods and creek beyond. We are walking distance to antique shops and art galleries of local fine and folk art talent.
Ashford Manor was built in 1893 by Alexander Woodson "A.W." Ashford,
son of William Henry and Louisa Booth Ashford. A.W. and his wife,
Elizabeth (Loula) Ashford lived in the house with nine children.
There are plenty of places on the grounds where one can slow down and enjoy a summer's day, read a book, or just get away from the daily chaos of life. There are grand reception areas inside and out with four acres of gardens on four descending terraces overlooking an acre of wooded natural pathways.
The Garden Terrace - an easy access to the Manor House and kitchen by way of the wisteria covered porch. The Lower Terrace - a curved brick stairway cascades down to a wall of arched brick recesses, with a double layered terrace to an acre of magnolias, pears, pecans, cedars and wisteria.
The living room, dining room, reception room and grand entrance hall on the ground floor were designed to entertain large parties so common in the Victorian age. Ten floor-to-ceiling glass doorways access the colonnaded wrap porch adding entertaining space during the warmer months.

Concerts on the Lawn
Imagine a beautiful outdoor park or public garden with flowers and fountains, on a beautiful starlit summer night. Then think about spreading out under the stars with your family or friends with a picnic supper. And then imagine some great live music. It's that simple. With these elements you can also decide how you want to tailor your experience-maybe the kids want to run down by the stage and dance to the music-maybe you want to sit close to the band and take it all in. Or you find a place where you can hear the music but are still able to chat with your friends. There are also great little secret, private places on the grounds where you can have your own intimate evening experience.
Once you try it, once you come out and see how easy it is to have a beautiful, fun experience that's close to home and at a reasonable price, you just keep coming back - it's quite habit-forming. Folks tell us that this is often the only chance to really see and enjoy their neighbors and friends, without having to entertain at their own homes.
It is really just the easiest thing to do to come out on a beautiful night, order your food, bring your beverage of choice, lay your blanket out under the stars and listen to the music. You don't have to dress up. Heck, we don't care if you shower before you come!
This place and the event are very casual and relaxed. But some folks do it all up-complete with candelabras, fine crystal and silverware - this is a place to create whatever kind of experience you like. The only requirement we have is that you relax and have fun - no stress vibes, no bad office karma here! 2009 Ticket prices are: Adults $15; Children 6 - 12: $6; Children under 6 Free; Students (w/ valid ID) $12.
