The Woldert-Spence Manor is Tyler's oldest B&B, and the closest lodging facility to historic downtown Tyler. A Tyler Historic Landmark, the Manor is a Queen Anne Victorian home which has been fully restored, remodeled, and tastefully decorated with period pieces. This B&B has been in continuous operation since 1993, with continued business growth. Our revenue for 2010 was the highest yet (up 7% over 2009), and we enjoy strong repeat and referral business.
The house is set back on a large corner lot surrounded by brick streets and many mature shade trees. There is a covered jacuzzi in the relaxing Rear Garden along with a koi pond, gazebo, wishing well, and large back deck. The main house has original oak and heart-of-pine wood floors, wood moulding, and gorgeous stained-glass windows. The stained glass is original to the house and is one of this B&B’s unique and memorable features.
All 8 rooms have private baths, some featuring claw-foot tubs. Additional features in some rooms include king or queen-size beds, fireplaces, private balconies or porches. Two of the rooms are private carriage houses for that home-away-from-home feeling.
We are just minutes from many attractions including Tyler's Rose Garden, fine dining, antique stores, Tyler State Park, and more. We are a popular choice for guests who come to visit Tyler’s famous Azalea Trails and Spring Flower Festival in the spring and the Rose Festival in the fall.
The property consists of two parcels totaling 0.55 acres. There is a total of 5,100 square feet of living space in three structures: the main house (3,700 square feet, built in 1884) and two carriage houses (each about 700 square feet, built in the 1930s). There is also an additional 1,400 square feet of storage space (which could be converted to guest rooms with some investment).
