The newly renovated historic Inn, built in 1889, is located in the charming town of Tryon. The Inn was restored in 1996 to its original grandeur. Each of the 16 guestrooms have been decorated with comfort and relaxation in mind. The spacious common area includes: an 85 seat dining room, bar, lounge, a glassed-in sun porch and a living room with a fireplace. A porch wraps around the front with seating available for rocking and friendly conversation.
The Melrose Inn property main house was originally built in 1889 as a private residence for Dr. Charles Kenworthy. When he passed, his widowed wife ran it as the Kenworthy Boarding House. The right side wing was added in 1925 and then a left wing in 1935 which completed the Inn as it sits today. The Inn went through a full renovation that was completed in 1998.
