Lovely, laid back operation of a 3 room B&B in what was once a tavern built in 1780. Enjoy living in the Green Mtns. & breathe clean air & make a few $
The Deming House is a 2 story center hall colonial built in 1780 by Gamaliel Deming and operated as a tavern into the mid 1800's. It is one of, if not the, oldest structure in the village of Arlington, Vermont, located in the southwest corner of the state between the Green Mountains and the Battenkill River.
The house consists of 5 bedrooms and 5 baths, 3 of which are rented at a leisurely rate by the current owners. The building is listed on the national registry of historic places and retains much of it's original structural integrity including the stacked stone foundation with whole trees and broad-axed beams holding up the floors. The current owners have spent the last 8 years enjoying the renovating of the home and have decided to downsize and let someone else enjoy the feeling of living in a historical monument of sorts. The upstairs portion of the main, original portion of the house serves as the owners quarters and consists of 4 large rooms and an office complete with 9 foot high cathedral ceilings. The master bath has a shower plus a tub with marble flooring.
There was an addition added on in the mid 1800's that serve as the guest quarters with 3 large, queen sized bedrooms and private baths, two with marble floors and one with hardwood. The house would be suitable for a large family if not continued running as an inn. Too many amenities to list. Call for particulars.
