Snorkels

Snorkels
When you visit the Island City House Hotel, our special hosts will greet you. They are four little furry creatures that live amongst us and are quite popular at the Hotel with both repeat and first-time guests.

(In Memory of) Big, a Hemingway cat (he has six toes), is quite a legend. We cannot be certain of his age, but we think his is about sixteen, because he has been here as long as anyone can remember. He mostly frequents the guests in the Island City House mansion. He loves drinking water out of a running faucet and sleeping indoors with whoever will allow it. Once, a couple in Key West on a cruise stopped by just to feed Big a roast beef sandwich from Paradise Cafe.

Pixie, also a Hemingway cat, is a little on the shy side. She is partial to the Cigar House and breakfast area. Her special eating area is on the roof of the kitchen.

Snorkels, a tabby, keeps a close eye on the Arch House. She loves her little container of half & half every morning, and it shows. You will notice her belly brushing the ground as she walks.

Cyclone was our most recent addition. He disappeared in November. Anyone with any information is asked to call the office.

Our cats are so famous, there is a book written about them. The Island City House Cats, written and illustrated by Janet D. Corneal, is a children's book that tells the tale of the "real" owners of the Hotel. This book may be purchased in the office of the Hotel or by telephone.
