Delaware is a great place to visit. Delaware is one of the smallest states in the nation with only 1,955 square miles of land. Delaware also has the lowest average altitude of any state with only 60 feet above sea level. Although the state is small, it hosts big minds and ideas. According to a survey by the National Science Foundation, Delaware has more doctoral-level (Ph. D) scientists and engineers as a percentage of the population than any other state. Great minds have been meeting there for generations. General George Washington and his staff met at the Hale-Brynes House during the American Revolution's Brandywine campaign.
