This gracious Victorian home was built by John Shipman in 1887 as his personal residence. The house has been lovingly and extensively restored by its present owners. The interior features original wood paneling, stained glass windows, a player piano, art nouveau and authentic Victorian decoration and antique furnishings. Several working fireplaces in the common areas as well as in one guest room add to the ambiance. The house is highly decorated in the holiday season, and was also part of "Christmas at the Smithsonian". Unusual to the city, the home features large outdoor area including a Victorian-style lattice porch, landscaped formal gardens with fountains, and bricked patio area. The formal English style garden with, brick pillared grape arbor has been the sight of numerous weddings and private parties. Once you experience the warm and friendly lodging of a bed and breakfast, you'll never want to book a hotel or motel again. A bed and Breakfast offers the personal friendly touch of family style living. It's more than just a room to sleep in.
