Introduction
Owners and innkeepers, Elaine and Leo Klevens, invite you to relax, step back in time, and enjoy a stay amid an enchanting collection of New England country antiques and reproductions in the rambling 18th century farmhouse that is Riverwind Inn.
Riverwind Inn invites you to visit and enjoy relaxation, fine dining, antiquing, and sightseeing...
in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley.
Picture postcard seasons, superb dining, exceptional theater, and the relaxed pace of our small villages are only a few of the many reasons visitors travel to the Connecticut River Valley. Riverwind Inn is nestled between Essex and Chester in quiet, historic Deep River, central to the Connecticut River Valley's many pleasures.

Bring bikes to experience the beautiful scenery and wildlife preserves found on our many back roads, or hike in Canfield-Meadow Woods Nature Preserve, over 300 pristine acres of trails located less than a mile from the Inn. It will soon become clear to you why the Nature Conservancy has designated this area as "one of the last great places".
In addition to eight uniquely delightful guest rooms, Riverwind offers a multitude of common rooms providing you with many fascinating spaces for mingling or privacy. Four of these common rooms boast fireplaces, including a breathtaking twelve-foot stone cooking fireplace in the keeping room. Cold and hot beverages are always available in the upstairs coffee room.
Crackling fires greet our guests during fall and winter, where maybe mulled apple cider awaits our guests arrivals. In spring or summertime you may find visitors rocking away a lazy afternoon in one of our many comfortable rockers that line the spacious wrap around porch.
The front parlor offers a welcoming glass of sherry which you may enjoy while relaxing before the fire.
Choose a board game, a card game, or a televised show in one of the upstairs sitting rooms where guests usually can find a baked snack to enjoy with whatever they choose to do. Or you may decide to select a book from the library and curl up before the fire in yet another spacious sitting room.
Exquisite dining starts each morning with the Inn's complimentary full country breakfast which includes chilled juices, hot coffee or tea, and either a fresh fruit salad, cold fruit soup, along with fresh baked coffee cake, bread, or muffins, accompanied by a chef's choice entree. Our full breakfast is served in candlelit dining rooms between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. Early morning coffee and tea is also available for the early risers.
