Travel information about Milford, Connecticut

Milford is a city in southwestern New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The Summer Nights by Harbor Lights Summer Concert Series is brought to you by the Milford Chamber of Commerce and the Law Firm of Kapusta and Otzel. Friday nights the Rotary Pavilion at Fowler Field comes alive with the sounds of a variety of local bands. The music ranges from Big Band Swing to Rock and Roll. Bring a picnic basket and a blanket and join us at these enjoyable events. The bands start playing at 7 PM. Milford Oyster Festival. This is perhaps the most highly anticipated event of the year in Milford. This annual daylong event is held on the third Saturday of August and regularly draws over 50,000 visitors and national performers to downtown Milford. The event consists of an Arts and Crafts Fair on the Green, Children's Entertainment, Canoe and Kayak Races, A Classic Car Show and Swinging Soiree, and first class entertainment with bands performing throughout the day on both the Mainstage and the Emerging Artists Stage, culminating with the main act. Previous headlining performers have included the Mark Farner Band, Orleans, Jefferson Starship, Shangri-Las, Eight to the Bar and John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, to name a few. River Park Historic District is roughly bounded by Boston Post Road, Cherry St. and Amtrak, and High St. Housatonic River Railroad Bridge. For food, try Stonebridge Restaurant which has a perfect setting right on the water in the heart of downtown Milford: good food, good service, and solid wine.
