The Deacon Timothy Pratt Bed & Breakfast - Old Saybrook, Connecticut We invite you to step back in time and enjoy the splendor of yesteryear in this magnificent c.1746 center chimney colonial Bed and Breakfast. The Inn is listed on the National Historic Register and we are located in the charming, quintessential New England village of Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The gas-lit Main Street, in the heart of historic shopping districts welcomes you as you arrive for your stay. The B and B is part of an historic walking tour as well as a scenic coastal bicycle loop. There is an ice skating pond just 1/8 mile away; plus a great canoe/kayak launch just 1/2 mile away!

This charming Connecticut Bed and Breakfast boasts many fine original details including original wide-board floors, hand-hewn beams, wainscoting, a corner cupboard, beehive oven and 12 working fireplaces!

Our romantic guest rooms feature an award winning decor, combining an historical charm with the relaxing luxuries of today's modern lifestyles. Each guestroom features a Jacuzzi/whirlpool tub and fireplace, a 4-poster or canopy bed, private bath, a comfortable sitting area, cable TV, stereo/CD player, high speed wireless as well as phone/modem line, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, alarm clock, and AC. (Rooms in Main House lock with door latches from the inside and guest rooms located in the James Pharmacy lock with key locks). Rates include breakfast of home baked goods; fresh fruit on weekdays and a full three course breakfast on weekends.

The house was built by Deacon Timothy Pratt in 1746 and served as a private school in the 1790's. In our Pratt House Scrap Book, you can read an excerpt from a girl's journal who attended school here. Timothy Pratt was a carpenter and served as a Deacon in the church across the street from the property.

A formal candle-lit breakfast is served on fine china, linens & silver in the elegant dining room complete with fireplace, corner cupboard & period wainscoting. Guests are treated to a complimentary breakfast of home baked goods & fresh fruit prepared by one of our pastry chefs. Relax in our picturesque grounds with pretty gardens, a fountain, inviting sitting areas, a handsome two-century-old maple tree with swing and two-person rope hammock. Fall is Fun at Deacon Timothy Pratt Bed & Breakfast, with losts of beautiful fall colors and activities.
Relax by the fire in the privacy of your room or in the gracious parlor with original working fireplace and enjoy one of our games, or visit with new-found friends, and enjoy complimentary port wine, teas, or hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies. Guest refrigerator and ice available. Massage therapy can also be arranged in your guestroom.

Policies:
  • Weeknight rates are valid for checking in Sunday through Thursday nights;
  • 1 night stay is fine.
  • Two night minimum stay on weekends (Fri./ Sat. or Sat./ Sun.)
  • Three night minimum stay on some holiday weekends;
  • Some weeknight holidays may be weekend rate; inquire.
  • Check in: anytime before 5 pm preferably; late check-ins fine-we will leave you a note; Check out: 11 am
  • Well-behaved children 10 and over welcome Sunday through Thursday nights only.
  • Twin rollaway cots available.

  • Rates are based on double occupancy
  • $30 extra per person over two.
  • No smoking anywhere inside the inn. Evidence of smoking in the room will result in a cleaning fee being charged to your credit card. (It usually makes the room un-rentable to the next incoming guest).
  • Cancellation Policy: There is a 10% processing fee for all cancellations. If you must cancel less than two weeks away for ANY reason you will be refunded only for the portion of your stay we are able to rebook. No Exceptions. Since we are a small inn, and we count on every reservation, we must schedule arrivals and departures carefully.

  • A half mile from a beautiful cove, lined with majestic old sea captain homes and scenic vistas, and a boat launch. Perfect spot for kayaking/canoeing.
