The Carriage House at Hedgerow Bed & Breakfast Suites, originally the barn for the Mendenhall Farm (now next door) was originally built around 1865. The current Hedgerow property was divided from the Mendenhall's in 1896. Then about 1934, Pierre DuPont, of Longwood Gardens, started a program to provide employee housing in the area. Part of the program was to convert the top of the Carriage House for a Longwood family. The latest remodeling was the conversion to the B&B in 1995. Recently, extensive landscaping was done, including 160 linear feet of brick walks and a small patio (12' x 25' irregular) off the dining room. The tie breaker question is, How many whole bricks make up this area of brick walks and patio surrounding Hedgerow? The entry with the closest answer wins. In the case of a tie a random drawing will be held among the correct entries to determine the winner. PLEASE do NOT call or email the innkeepers and ask them what the answer is. |
