A full, buffet style breakfast is served each morning.

A History of the Property
This Salida, Colorado lodging property was built in 1888 as a boarding house for the bustling business brought to Salida by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. With the demise of railroads in the latter 1900’s, Salida has remained an intersection for Rocky Mountain travelers and The Thomas House continues to serve many of these visitors in its family friendly atmosphere.

In true boarding house style, our guestrooms all share a common sitting room with a television and kitchenette. Each has a private bath with a shower stall, a queen bed and is decorated with your comfort in mind. We also have two suites and a cottage, with king sized beds, televisions, and kitchen facilities, making them perfect for special occasions or for those traveling with children. Rates are from $65-135 per night.

Driving into Chaffee County and Salida, the sign reads: "Now This Is Colorado". With more warmth and sunshine, world-famous river rapids, and more 14,000 foot peaks than any other county, the slogan is certainly not an overstatement.

The Arkansas River Valley is also a paradise for recreation. Monarch Ski Area is nearby and boasts the best in powder skiing, with both downhill and cross-country trails.

Many area river rafting outfitters offer every kind of river experience, from a meandering day admiring the scenery or fly fishing, to class V rapids. The Salida area also has a natural hot springs pool, a golf course, an award-winning winery, as well as many hiking and biking trails, including the famous Monarch Crest Trail on the Continental Divide. The area is also rich in Native American and mining history, which adds to every outdoor adventure.
