TAKE IT TO THE PEAK BIKE TRIP - Twice daily 7 days a week. Join the thousands of visitors who have experienced the Ultimate Ride. Your 20 mile downhill adventure from the summit of the world's most famous mountain...Pikes Peak, will stay in your memories long after your vacation is over. The trip begins at Challenge Unlimited's office at 204 S. 24th Street just a few miles from Holden House, where participants will be greeted by our enthusiastic bike guides who will have them sign release forms, feed them breakfast, and fit them with helmets. You will be loaded up in a fifteen passenger van and head for the summit of Pikes Peak (14,110 feet). Once on the summit, the guides will give you detailed instructions on biking and riding safety. Off you go... As you descend down the mountain, you'll pass through five different life zones, each zone having a different climate, different vegetation and wildlife. Keep your eyes open for eagles, deer, elk, Rocky Mountain Big Horn sheep, black bears, marmots, and an occasional mountain lion. Your descent will take two-and-a-half to three hours. The ride finishes at the world-famous "Wines of Colorado," where you will be served lunch.
Departures: Weather depending!!! This tour runs seven days a week beginning May 1 and runs through October 31. Morning ride begins at 6:45 AM, returning at approximately 12:00 pm. Sunset ride begins at 2:00 PM returning at 7:00 PM. May/September/October trips only run once a day departing either at 8:00 am, returning by 1:30 PM, or departing at 12:30 pm, returning at 5:30 PM. (Please call to confirm these off-season times.) **We highly recommend the morning ride because of weather and traffic.

ALL ABOARD the Echo Canyon exclusive! It consists of a whitewater rafting trip down the Arkansas River and a train ride aboard the Royal Gorge railroad through the scenic Royal Gorge. Your raft trip is followed by a delicious lunch served on the banks of the river at our private landing. Raft-n-Rail COACH CLASS: This guest-favorite combines a nine mile raft trip through the Arkansas River's Bighorn Sheep Canyon, lunch along the banks of the river, followed by a twelve mile train ride on the Historic Royal Gorge Route Railroad in one continuous excursion. PADDLE AND SADDLE-Raft and Ride (05/15/2009 thru 09/05/2009)
Paddle-n-Saddle - You will begin your day rafting nine miles of the Arkansas River through Bighorn Sheep Canyon. Your rafting trip will be followed by lunch on the banks of the river at our private landing, after which we provide transportation back to our office where you will prepare for your horseback ride. Next door to our office is Fort Royal Stables, where you will meet your horse and wrangler. Your two-hour horseback ride will take you through the mountains surrounding the Arkansas River Valley, returning you to the stables at about 3:00 p.m.
Relax at our private river landing after your rafting adventure and enjoy a delicious deli-style sandwich buffet, complete with side salads, fresh fruit, chips and home-made salsa, cookies, and refreshments. After lunch, you will board Echo transportation and a short shuttle will bring you back to our river office where photographs of your raft trip will be awaiting you inside our office; be sure to check out who was really paddling!
Change into attire appropriate for horseback riding. Closed-toe shoes are required for the ride and jeans or pants are strongly recommended. Helmets will be available at Fort Royal Stable upon request, but are not required. This scenic tour will offer views of the Arkansas River Valley and majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. You will return to the stables between 3:00-3:30 p.m. Daily departures at 9:30 a.m. (6/20/09-8/16/09) or 10:00 a.m. (prior to 6/20/09 and after 8/16/09)
