Independence Suite - Guests enjoy accommodations in this 1st floor private luxury suite. The moment you step inside the foyer of our adjacent Rose Victorian home, you'll be touched with elegance. Decorated in soft colors, this two room suite boasts hardwood floors, a bedroom with four-poster canopy bed and original wood columned tiled fireplace with beveled mirror and updated with easy remote control gas operation, a private sitting room with bay window and mission oak loveseat, and a spacious bath with a marble Roman "tub for two" and separate marble shower.
You'll enter through a private entrance with refrigerator and coffee/tea service, and in-room color/cable TV with DVD, cd/clock radio, iron/ironing board, telephone/modem hook-up, hair dryer and private label amenities.
Relax in your private porch swing on the wide veranda with a view of the mountains and partake in the breakfast delights served in the main house each morning. This suite has the distinction of being awarded one of the "Waverly Rooms of the Year" by Country Inns Bed & Breakfast magazine. This beautiful room also provides disabled and handicap access. Ask about our "breakfast en suite" Romance Package. Romance Package additional $15.00 charge plus room rate per day.
For guests requiring special handicapped accommodations and disabled access, the Holden House' Independence suite offers the following:
- 36" wide doors with lever handles
- Wheelchair transfer shower (not wheel-in) with removable seat and grab bars
- Remote control fireplace, DVD, and cable television with closed caption
- Hearing impaired smoke alarm system
- Wheelchair roll-up lavatory with appropriate mirror height and lever handles
- Oversized Roman marble tub for two with grab bars and large ledge
- Closet features low clothes hanging bar
- Water closet/toilet area with grab bars and wheelchair mobility
- Wheelchair ramp and paved handicapped off-street parking space to access room
- Full breakfast available ensuite due to no wheelchair access to main house
- Hardwood floors with removable rugs
- Drop-leaf desk accessible to wheelchair
"My husband and I had searched all the internet when trying to book our belated anniversary getaway to Colorado Springs for accommodations that were for a wheelchair confined adult. My husband has been confined to a wheelchair for over 30 years and we have traveled many places that just do not have the right accommodations for him to get around and be able to enjoy the trip. All at the Holden House were so courteous and understanding of our needs and they had the perfect suite, the Independence, just made like your home environment. It was so remarkable!! There was a tub for two that even my husband could get into and he is unable to walk or stand! He was even able to transfer over into the shower onto a bench, which is usually impossible in most places! It was really like we were living in our own little house! The breakfast was out of this world! Since he was unable to get into the main house, breakfast was brought to our room! The cottage was so peaceful and quaint and the hospitality was awesome!!! For someone who had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before, our first experience will last a lifetime! Truly an anniversary to remember!! We highly recommend this B and B for anyone that has a physical disability because you will be treated like a King here!!!
