The Cat's Meow
Our resident InnCats "Mei-Lin" (pronounced May Lynn) and Mingtoy will make you feel at home and
provide a "purr-fect" stay. They look on the inn as their own and do not permit guest pets.
If you need pet-free accommodations, the Goldfield, Silverton and Independence suites are suitable choices.
Mei-Lin is a lilac point Siamese and Tortoise-Shell mix with lovely bright blue eyes. Her name means “beautiful gem or beautiful jade” in Chinese. A very appropriate name for such a beautiful feline friend. Though she seems to believe she's a purebred, she was actually rescued from the Humane Society. Her favorite toy is the fishing pole string which she loves to attack, leaping into the air to grab it with her paws. In addition to her large kitty toy collection, she enjoys playing with simple household items; hiding in cardboard boxes, chasing ribbons and shoestrings, and keeps herself occupied with batting large rubber bands around the house.
Her favorite books are French For Cats, Poetry For Cats, Fang Shui (by Catfucius), the Cat Book of Virtues, 3 Stories to Read to your Cat, and of course, Victorian Cats (in keeping with the Holden House theme). Her petting preference is under the chin, the top of her head and her ears. She is very friendly and shows no fear.
Mei-Lin
Mingtoy
Mingtoy - Our new kitten has now joined the "Ming" dynasty at Holden House. She is 6th in a long-line of Mingtoy's owned by Sallie. Our fur-ball of energy is keeping Mei Lin on her toes and the two little ladies have adjusted to life together. Mingtoy is the daughter of a beautiful white and black mother cat who was abandoned outside our veterinary clinic. So precious was she, that we waited patiently for two months to receive her from a foster home. She's become quite a hit with our inn guests. Her favorite toy is a short pole with a lure at the end. She's getting her paw-eye coordination down to a science and is able to leap into the air with "fur-vor" and style. Mingtoy and Mei Lin frequently play hide and seek and do the usual chase me-chase you-game. She's so cute that some of our guests have threatened to pack her in their suitcase. We'll be sure to keep you up to date on her growth. Today (May 24) she weighs in at a whopping 2 lbs., is black with a tiny bit of white on her chest and in her ears. Sallie's ancestry is of Welsh descent and in Wales, black cats are known for bestowing good luck. Be sure to visit and pet our little Ming and you'll be sure to have not only the luck of the Welsh, but the luck of the Irish (she was born on March 17th, St. Patrick's Day) on your wonderful vacation in Colorado Springs at Holden House.
Ode to Mingtoy and Muffin - For long-time return guests, our beautiful black Siamese mix, Mingtoy, and our calico/Siamese kitty, Muffin, passed away in 2007. Both of our little ladies leave us with many fond memories of exceptional, although sometimes unpredictable, guest relations. Ming and Muffy led a very pampered and peaceful existence here at Holden House for many years (Ming-19 and Muffy-16) and entertained thousands of guests. While we continue to miss their unique presence in our lives, we also are assured that they’re in good hands in a place of eternal rest.
