Things To Do
Granddads Homestead Ranch is not a dude ranch. Your week with us will be spent doing all the daily activities. You will join the cowboys and cowgirls while they check cattle, water tanks, salt, and fences. There are activities including sorting, moving cattle to rotate pastures, branding, and doctoring ill animals.
An average day is started with breakfast at 7:30, and lunch rolls around sometime around noon, depending upon the day's findings. Some days you may eat a sack lunch, as you are too far from home to eat at the camp. You may experience the ultimate "tailgate party" with lunch on the back of the pickup somewhere along the trail. Supper will be served country style with hearty proportions guaranteed to fill you up. After supper, join the hands around the campfire telling stories about the day's events.
We are only 4 miles from the Pawnee Buttes where you will find many exciting places to explore. Granddads Homestead Ranch is a great place for bird watching. Some of the species observed on our property by a Colorado State University study included horned larks, lark buntings, McCown's longspurs, western meadowlarks, mountain plovers, chestnut-collared longspurs, vesper sparrows, killdeer, mourning doves, Swainson's hawks, chipping sparrows, tree swallows and burrowing owls.
