Boulder, Colorado (CO) Bed & Breakfast: The Briar Rose was voted Boulder's best bed and breakfast in 2002 by Boulder Daily Camera newspaper readers. Each of our nine guest rooms and the extended stay suite have individual personalities, but they all have private baths, telephones with Internet access, fine linens, and 'Fedderbet' comforters on queen size beds. The Honeymoon and Anniversary rooms have wood burning fireplaces and offer a special, romantic getaway. We are located close to the University of Colorado, the Pearl Street pedestrian mall, and many of Boulder's finest restaurants.

Briar Rose Bed and Breakfast - Boulder, Colorado The Briar Rose Inn is run by innkeepers Chip Horner and Gary Hardin, a Zen monk. It is our intention to bring mindfulness and compassion to our care for the guests and the inn. Above all, our hallmark is to offer a feeling of "home" in the heart of Boulder. We simply take care of whoever walks in the door.

Gary's wife, Kristen, tends our gardens. The gardens offer a private retreat - for personal reflection, a warm conversation or simply enjoying the many different plants, flowers, trees and shrubs. The living room, with a wood-burning fireplace is an inviting spot for reading, meeting with friends, or enjoying a fine pot of tea with fresh-baked shortbread cookies. Guests and staff may sit in our humble meditation room listening to the small waterfall in the garden below.

The Briar Rose hosts small meetings and receptions. We welcome professional caterers of your event.

Guests start the day with a complete organic breakfast, including a fresh-fruit cup (we carefully select fresh fruits daily), fresh-baked sweet breads, yogurt with raspberries, an egg dish with toast, fresh orange juice, and our fantastic homemade granola. House specialties include olive & sun-dried tomato tapenade, southwestern quiche, and homemade salsas. (Recipes have been featured in the Denver Post). Organic coffee and tea are freshly brewed. Breakfast is served either in our dining room or on the cheery sun porch, weather permitting. Arrangements can be made for in-room service.

We intend to cater (where practical) to any dietary needs a guest traveling to Boulder may have. We do not serve meat at the inn, and regularly prepare breakfasts that are safe for vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, wheat free, gluten free or diabetic diets. Please let us know at the time of reservation about your dietary needs so that we may shop accordingly.

Living Room Tea trays are available throughout the day at no charge. We offer a wide selection of herbal and loose-leaf white, green, and black teas, featured on our "wall of tea." We import teas directly from China, India and Japan, as well as a selection from Rishi Teas and Frontier. Selection varies but typically we offer Japanese green teas including sencha, genmaicha, and hojicha, a large assortment of Chinese green teas including jasmine, dragonwell, green jade and emerald lily, white teas including snow buds, ancient moonlight white and peach blossom, and black teas including darjeeling, Ceylon, and assam, as well as Earl Grey, English Breakfast and Irish Breakfast. Combined with homemade shortbread cookies, a Briar Rose tea tray is a delightful experience. Coffee, ice tea, and filtered water are also served.

We belong to two state bed and breakfast associations, the Distinctive Inns of Colorado, and the Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers of Colorado. Both feature high-quality inns. We are the only Boulder bed and breakfast (or hotel) that serves organic breakfast and the only local member of the Green Hotels Association. We are inspected by AAA and are members of the Boulder Hotel and Motel Association.

The innkeepers at the Briar Rose intend to encourage and promote ecological
consciousness in every aspect of providing hospitality to our guests.
