Introduction
Blue Skies Inn Bed and Breakfast is a charming bed and breakfast in Manitou Springs, a small mountain town nestled at the base of Pikes Peak in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We are located just west of Colorado Springs and are near to Denver, Canon City and Pueblo.
Our inn is located right in the middle of our many area attractions. Within half a mile of us, you will find Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Cave of the Winds and the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. White-water river rafting in Buena Vista, Canon City and the Royal Gorge is an hour's drive.
If you're looking for a great travel buy, consider the spacious suites at Blue Skies Inn where you can enjoy all of your meals during your stay. We will start your day with delivery of a full hot breakfast. Our 450 square-foot suites are designed for an in-suite breakfast, but why stop there? Every suite has a microwave and fridge, so you can stock up on lunch and dinner groceries and "fix your own" rather than depend on restaurants. Tell us what dishes you need, and you're set!
Built by an artist/craftsman, Blue Skies Inn bed and breakfast was designed to complement the elegant 1873 structures at Briarhurst, the historic estate of the founder of Manitou Springs. We enjoy sharing stories about the colorful history of our Pikes Peak area and of the adventurous early pioneers who settled here.
Towering willows and cottonwoods grow on the shady banks of Fountain Creek, the year round stream (full of fish!) which flows through our site. Downtown Manitou Springs, with its charming shops and Victorian architecture, is an easy stroll, just two blocks away.
The grounds of Blue Skies Inn feature lawns, lush flower gardens, a charming gazebo with hot tub, and rushing waterfall. Explore our secret garden! Our shady Woodland Garden and Waterfall Garden are romantic settings for many weddings and elopements. Red rock hillsides covered with hundred year-old scrub oak saw Ute Indians camping here in prehistoric times.
Amenities in each suite: WiFi internet, TV, DVD/VCR, CD player, cable, telephone, microwave, mini-fridge, iron, ironing board, hair dryer. FAX and copier on site.
Extensive Movie Library: Over 1300 titles -- free of charge -- order movies to be in your suite when you arrive!
Enjoy the quiet of private and semi-private entrances.
Luxurious private bathrooms feature spacious tiled showers, bathtubs or Jacuzzis.
Fireplaces are in all suites as shown in room descriptions.
Rest in the private sitting room of your suite, where you can enjoy breakfast.
Splash in our giant, outdoor hot tub in a charming gazebo with a view of starlit Colorado skies.
We welcome children of all ages, since the distinctive design of the spacious, three-room suites at Blue Skies Inn affords more private space and fewer shared facilities than most B&Bs.

If you are planning a Colorado vacation adventure, we are the perfect lodging accommodations for you. After hiking, horseback riding and experiencing our Pikes Peak area attractions, you'll enjoy returning to a spacious air-conditioned suite and a soak in our hot tub under Colorado starlit skies.
With ten suites, we are able to host a family reunion or wedding party of up to 35 guests. Blue Skies Inn is especially well suited to provide lodging for visiting parents and relatives of Colorado College students and United States Air Force Academy cadets because many of our spacious suites have two or more beds.
Breakfast is a special experience here. Every suite has a private sitting room in which to dine. A delicious, FULL, hot breakfast is served to you in our Secret Garden or delivered to the door of your suite in a picnic basket. Our bed and breakfast was designed to make your lodging and dining experience as public or private as you wish. Blue Skies Inn is happy to be your site for romance or adventure.
Our garden hot tub sits in a gazebo that is spired and peaked to match our Gothic Revival architectural style. Your view of the sky is beautifully framed while you luxuriate in the bubbling, heated mountain waters. Perfect for stargazing, too!
Gardens have always been an integral part of the experience here at Blue Skies Inn. More than a century before Sally built the inn, our land was a part of the gardens planted by Ferdinand Schneider on the Briarhurst Estate. Fellow gardeners can see each other, even across a span of centuries, so when inveterate-gardener Sally arrived on the property, she immediately detected the efforts of Ferdinand. She was so impressed she named one of our suites in his honor.
Blue Skies is situated on 2.5 acres of streamside and wooded property that features several varieties of ecosystems, from giant littoral cottonwood and willow trees, to drywash copses of scrub oak, ash and elms, to high-desert cactus and scrub. We tailored our construction to keep as much of the natural vegetation intact. In addition, our three B&B buildings have always been surrounded by small garden areas.
About six years ago, we put in the Secret Garden, a secluded spot behind our furthest-back B&B building featuring small copses of huge, century-old scrub-oak trees to the east and west. To the north is a spectacular redstone wall over twelve feet high built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression in the 1930s. We have expanded the Secret Garden to include the hillside Waterfall Garden to the west. That garden climbs up wooden stairs into the high-desert scrub ecosystem at the top of the stone wall, then down along a redstone waterfall into the Secret Garden.
More recently, we have crossed into the ancient scrub oak copse on the east to build the Woodland Garden under the trees. This garden features pathways and isolated benches in a shady refuge for those seeking a quiet moment with nature. The gardens are a continuing project here at Blue Skies Inn. We have yet to complete pathways down to Fountain Creek. We are also looking forward to xeroscaping and building pathways through the locust, yucca and spectacular cacti that grow in the high-desert ecosystem on our grounds. Those areas are still here, more or less in their natural state, for your enjoyment.
Of course, the best way to fully appreciate the gardens at Blue Skies Inn is to come stay with us. Enjoy breakfast in the Secret Garden, and have fun exploring the winding paths and hidden sitting areas in the Woodland Garden.
