Introduction
Blue Skies Inn is a quiet refuge situated on 2.5 secluded acres along
Fountain Creek. Our garden courtyard is surrounded by ten unique three-
room...
... suites clustered in a quaint village of Gothic Revival architecture. We
have amenities for a romantic retreat, family vacation or high-tech business
stay.
Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring, Blue Skies Inn offers an authentic, artist-eclectic, mountain experience for visitors to the Pikes Peak area.
Near the base of Pikes Peak, Blue Skies Inn is scenically located in historic Manitou Springs and within walking distance of the Garden of the Gods. Marvel at
majestic views and brilliant sunshine in this charming mountain town. Hear
our history and wonder at those sturdy folks who traveled by covered wagon
to start a new life here a hundred or so years ago. Our area is now home to
the US Air Force Academy and the Olympic Training Center.
We are strategically situated in Manitou Springs, a small
mountain city nestled at the base of Pikes Peak. Our inn is isolated from
the hustle and bustle of cosmopolitan Colorado Springs but has easy
access to the entire Denver-Colorado Springs-Pueblo metroplex. Our city
was founded in 1873 by Dr. William Bell who established a health resort
centered around the city’s many artesian mineral springs. Manitou Springs
still maintains that mystique of mountainous isolation and small-town
charm.
Blue Skies Inn is unique because it is located on the secluded estate
called Briarhurst that the city’s founder built for his family in the heart of the city.
Our inn is clustered around Dr. Bell's carriage house, while his
handsome redstone mansion is now a five-star restaurant next door.
Towering willows and cottonwoods grow along Fountain Creek which runs
through the south side of our site, and beyond that leafy border lies historic
downtown Manitou Springs.
Our grounds feature lawns, flower gardens, a
splashing waterfall, our charming gazebo/hot tub area and a hillside
covered with hundred year-old scrub oak.

The details of Blue Skies’ all-new construction match the Gothic Revival
architecture of Dr. Bell's 1873 carriage house so well that guests are often
at a loss to distinguish the original from our respectful reproduction.
However, within our board-and-batten siding and Gothic windows, guests
will find beautiful new suites, all painted and designed by an artist.
Our suites are approximately 450 square feet (about half the size of a small house) and have either private or semi-private entrances. All suites feature
air-conditioning, sound insulation, TV/VCR, phone and data port, microwave
oven, and small refrigerator. Whirlpool tubs and fireplaces are available for
romantic stays. Our new giant, outdoor hot tub, situated next to our garden
courtyard in a hand-built gazebo open to the Colorado sky, is available for
the use of all our guests. Children are welcome at Blue Skies.
Each suite has been individually painted according to its theme, and all of
our bathrooms are tiled to the ceiling using decorative, be-jeweled and
hand painted tile montages. Starlight is one of several sky-
themed suites, complete with mirrored "time windows" in the decoratively
tiled giant bathroom.
Other suites include Sunset, our most romantic
suite, and Ferdinand's Garden, a suite decorated with flowers of every kind
and named for the original groundskeeper on the Briarhurst Estate, and the
man responsible for planting the two pear trees that grace the front of our
courtyard. Mule deer, Colorado's native deer species, find our pears
irresistible, and they may be seen munching on pears from July through
September.
Every suite has a dining area, and breakfast is brought to the door of your
suite, no extra charge. Our gourmet breakfast includes a hot egg dish,
freshly baked muffins or pastries, fresh fruit, juice and special blend coffee.
We are happy to serve you in our garden courtyard or bring a breakfast
basket to your door for you to enjoy in your private sunlit sitting room. We
are also pleased to serve you breakfast in the personal space of one of our
covered porches or in our community garden area (weather permitting).
Our inn is designed to make your lodging and dining experience as public
or private as you wish.
