Mettawas End Bed and Breakfast - Kingsville, Ontario
    The Laidlaw Room

Owners Megan and Roland are pleased to welcome you to their Kingsville century house open now as a Bed and Breakfast. This house has been in Megan's family for three quarters of a century since the early 1900's. Luckily, the restoration and installation of modern features didn't take that long. We hope you will enjoy the comfort, the lake views, as well as the original architecture of this former grand summer cottage. During your stay you may wish to take advantage of our close proximity to many centers of interest, such as the 13 wineries of this famous wine making region and Point-Pelee National Park.

Surrounded by our garden, this lakeside "cottage" offers you a special historical atmosphere. It was built in 1891 across the street from the Mettawas Resort and Casino, a Grand Hotel, constructed by whiskey baron Hiram Walker. Our cottage was built for his son, Franklin H. Walker, and is all that remains: Mettawas End.

    The Laidlaw Room

This room is named after Megan's great grandfather Henry Gordon Laidlaw, who purchased the house in 1907. Lake breezes remain. The new bathroom is worth the little walk in the hall, using, if you wish, comfortable bathrobes we provide for you. The cedar paneled sauna opens onto a walk-in shower with choice of three shower heads. $105 for two, $90 for single occupancy.

    The Walker Room

The room is named for the first owner of this house, Franklin H Walker. It has a fireplace, in working condition, perfect for a romantic atmosphere. Today, a flat screen TV and a DVD player stand on top of the fireplace mantel. There is an antique walnut drop desk where your laptop has access to the wireless internet and, on the other side of the bed, a roomy sitting area. The room now opens onto a green roof with a sitting area and a lake view. A full ensuite bath offers modern comfort with a Jacuzzi tub, a large shower, a towels heater and his and hers vanities. $125 for two, $110 for single occupancy.
