  • Introduction

The Briars is a heritage Ontario lakeside resort located in Jacksons Point, a refuge of relaxation and genuine hospitality amidst acres of lush lawns, gardens and towering trees. The surrounding woodlands, rivers and Lake Simcoe shoreline provide habitat for a variety of wildlife, an icon of Ontario's Green Belt.

Crisp fresh air, beautiful accommodation, wonderful meals and great activities - from our sunlit indoor pool, to our spa, cross country skiing and weekend programs including sleigh rides, guided hikes and more.

We are in the Greater Toronto Area - an easy drive over well-travelled roads.

This very special property includes a championship Scottish woodlands golf course, a full spa and excellent recreation programming. The Briars is recognized for its historic and natural significance by the Ontario Heritage Foundation and the Arboretum at the University of Guelph.

Our Guest Rooms are located in several areas of our Ontario inn, and in the cottage area. The rooms have one queen sized or one king sized bed, or two twin beds. Each has a TV, comfortable seating and 4-piece bath, and comfortable seating with pleasant views of gardens or lake. Most have a patio or balcony. Some are available with interconnecting doors to create suites.  Rates vary with view, fireplace and extra amenities.

Our Woodlands Cottages are situated in a grove of magnificent pines overlooking the approach to the 18th green. In summer, you’re steps from the outdoor pool, golf and breakfast at the Summer Dining Room. In winter, these cottages are quiet and secluded.

Two-Bedroom Cottages & Suites provide spacious accommodations with two bedrooms, a large living room with fireplace, TV and DVD player, wet bar with refrigerator, microwave and a comfortable deck. Each living room features comfortable seating where you can join together for a drink, a game or a movie in in front of the fireplace. The wet bar area, with refrigerator, allows you to prepare cold snacks and hot drinks. Cottages each have two four-piece baths, except Shelter and Birdie have one. Leacock Cottage is handicapped accessible. Pinewood is pet-friendly. Two cottages have a small third bedroom. Six cottages have spectacular lake views. Add $40 per adult for lake view in Mid and High season.

Four, seven and ten bedroom private lodges each contain a spacious living room with comfortable seating, a deck overlooking the lake, and a number of guest rooms, each with private bath. Private lodges are exceedingly well-suited to family gatherings, social reunions and small business retreats.

The Briars' captivating marriage of traditional country inn warmth with extensive resort facilities provides such a sense of a private retreat that our guests consider us "Another World", just an hour from Toronto.

The Sibbald family and the Briars staff invite you to visit the resort at any time of year, to relax and restore yourself, and rekindle your relationships with family and friends.
