  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Diane Valentine for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

The most common reasons are that they are drawn to how lovely the home is. The location is convenient to the activities they are doing while in town. It sets the background for a function, such as wedding preparation. For return guests, in particular, it has become their home away from home.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

My hospitality - making people feel welcome and at home. Good conversation. Sammy (my dog) is the real star of the B&B; everyone loves her.

I serve breakfast to each guests' liking. The home is in very good condition for its age (1893) and it is very tastefully decorated and furnished.

How it wraps you in comfort. And I also enjoy the back yard terrace where I serve breakfast to guests, weather permitting, and engage in stimulating conversations into the wee hours with guests.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

Alliston, ON is most known for the annual Potato Festival but people should also be made aware that it is a gateway to Southern Ontario's year round, outdoor recreation.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

Any compliments about the redecorating I've done are appreciated. People have commented on how up-scale I have made the home.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The wide variety of walking/hiking trails, many that are minutes from my front door.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

There are ski areas, golf courses, provincial parks, Autumn leaf watching, Christmas tree farms for cutting your own tree down.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

The Gibson Centre is an arts & culture centre with lots of events happening. The Circle Theatre is a quaint, newly renovated, neighborhood movie theatre that's a wonderful break from the big, crowed movie-plex experience. The Hair Gallery offers a discounted Spa Day to my guests. And a leisurely stroll down Main Street to window watch and shop....all of these are walking distance from my B&B.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

There's 77 Bistro, a really nice restaurant (better make reservations as soon as you arrive in town).

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

They are listed on my website.

How many rooms does your inn have?

    Three.

    Do you accept pets?

Yes, I do. There is also Camp Cookstown which is about 10 minutes away.

"I really loved my stay in your beautiful home, you made me feel very welcome the moment I stepped over your front door. I hope plans for renovating the rest of the house work out according to your intentions. Good luck with your work and I hope you are able to make it to Europe one day. As we say in German, “Resisn erweifal der Horizant” Many thanks and greetings from Austria!"
