Introduction
Yosemite Rose is a late 1800's 'Italianate Revival' Victorian Bed and Breakfast, a replica of a famous San Francisco Bay area mansion that is now in a museum. The retreat is situated off the old stagecoach run to Yosemite and is 18 miles from Yosemite National Park just off Highway 120. This is the most direct route from the Bay Area and San Francisco Airport.
Yosemite Rose lies on 90 quiet acres bordering the Stanislaus National Forest and the Yosemite Wilderness. The main building consists of 14 large rooms including 5 guest rooms. Unwind with a game of pool in the Billiard Room, listen to your favorite melodies being played on the baby grand piano in the Parlor, or take a nap on the couch in the Library. A delicious country breakfast is served on the verandah, which looks over the peaceful veiled Oaks, or in the dining room with its dramatic mural of one of Yosemite's most treasured views.
The main activity is a visit to Yosemite National Park; however, other activities include river rafting, exploring the Hetch Hetchy Dams, Big Trees State Park, Columbia Historic State Park, Rail Town, Moaning and Mercer Caverns, local wineries, and historic gold country towns.
Billiard Room
The Billiard Room, decorated with military memorabilia, stands as a lasting tribute to all those who have served in the United States Military, and highlights those in our family who served their country. Over a game of pool, one can meet friends and share laughter under the benign eyes of former protectors of our beloved land.
If you are inclined to walk the acreage, trails wind past the horse arenas through the olive grove, pastures, timberline, and along side our large pond, which is stocked with bass and blue gill. From the knoll, watch as the full moon rises behind Yosemite, with nearly the same brilliance as a sunrise, casting your shadow onto the ground. During the new moon, astronomers set their telescopes on the knoll for a night of stargazing. As a side note, gold is still locked into the quartz rocks and ledges on the property. The Hambe Trail leads down to the Tuolumne and Clavey Rivers 2,000 feet below.
