Your hosts, Jack and Monica, welcome you to step back to the year 1902 as you enter this gracious, California Craftsman-type home built by Illinois State Senator Fred E. Harding. This authentic, two-story, turn-of-the-century home features incomparable Port Orford cedar woodwork on the walls and ceilings. Guest tours will review family history and provide detail on the antiques, paintings and Oriental rugs which have been passed down to the hosts, fourth generation descendants of Senator Harding.

After a breathtaking day in the mountains or on an unforgettable farm, garden and wine tour or workshop in the nearby Squaw Valley area, you may enjoy sitting on the veranda listening to the sounds of water fountains and birdsong, resting on a hammock under the majestic live oak tree or taking a walk to the barn at sunset. At dusk, relax on a loveseat alongside the gold fish pond as the garden, aglow with little white lights, brings on the night. Just when you thought you couldn’t be any more relaxed during your stay at Wicky-Up Ranch – pamper yourself with a relaxing therapeutic massage! We work with qualified massage therapists specializing in a variety of body treatments including aromatherapy, massage therapy, hot stone therapy, reflexology and prenatal massage. | One of the highlights of California lodging at Wicky Up Ranch is our generous candlelight breakfast of delicious treats, creatively prepared and served. You will feel special as you dine on Villeroy & Boch China and use vintage sterling silver flatware that belonged to Monica’s mother. The philosophy that we bring to the food we prepare echoes that of the Slow Foods Movement of which Wicky Up Ranch is a member. We maintain that food is at its best when it is local, fresh and simply enhanced. The morning meal at our country bed and breakfast inn includes organic fresh-squeezed orange juice served daily and organic white grapefruit from our citrus ranch; a variety of locally grown fruits in season; home-baked muffins or breads; hot teas, including herbal, and coffee made from freshly ground organic, shade grown, rain forest blend beans. The memorable menu features a scrumptious hot entree. When available, dishes are made from eggs laid by free-range hens from a local farm. |
